Football Shoes
Football shoes are a type of cleat used by the players during a football match. These shoes have studs at its bottom that are designed to give a strong grip on all sorts of playing surfaces like grass or artificial turf.Until 1891, any cleats located under the shoes were completely prohibited. In 1891, the laws were redefined and cleats were allowed to enhance the grip of the football player. The cleats were restricted to be made of only leather, round in shape and less than half an inch. Leather studs were partially hammered into the shoes and players needed to carry additional pairs of shoes with them but in 1950’s ADDIDAS was the first company to launch compatible screws or studs for different conditions, made up of rubber or plastic and the players were able to change the stud plate instead of carrying several pairs of shoes. Cleats have evolved over a period of 200 years from being studless to having different types of studs for different types of weathers.
Depending on the surface and nature of sport, football shoes can vary to a large extent. For hard surface, sneaker shoes are used. These studs are made of plastic or rubber and thus not only enhance the grip of the player on the surfaces but also increases his agility.
For rugby, metal stripped studs are used and provided more grip to the players standing at the positions such as prop, hooker and lock. These screws in studs, usually 18mm length are made up of metal and with metal tips instead of plastic or rubber. Consequently, these shoes are heavier than other studs and assist the player with stronger support to stop the opponent running towards him. But these shoes were banned because of the various injuries it caused to the players and even to referees because of the metal cleats.
Customer Reviews
Nike Speed TD - White/Navy-318724-141 - Light, well constructed, everything you expect from a Nike Football Cleat. Good shoe for kickers who also play other positions.
adidas Men's RB619 Fly - I ordered this pair as a backup for when football season arrives. For $30, how could I not? They sell in stores for $100. I am on my third pair and I have never worn another cleat that conforms to my foot so well while still allowing break-neck acceleration and cutting on a dime.
ADIDAS Men's Pro Intimidate MD Mid Football Cleat - My son is so happy with his new cleats. He was only wearing his sneakers for flag football practice and games. His friends were wearing their old soccer cleats, but my son wanted only football cleats. So we went to several stores:Footlocker, Sports Authority and even Target. None had his size or even football cleats at all as it it considered to be the off season. After 6 stores on a school night, I told him I was finished and would go home to check out Amazon. With no problem, the cleats were available and were shipped to us in only a few days. He loves these cleats and moves well in them. We are happy to do business with Amazon.......right from our home!!
